Shack-a-thon is an annual advocacy event which aims to bring the community and various campus organizations together for fun and to support Habitat for Humanity’s cause. The groups build shacks out of cardboard, helping to raise awareness about poverty housing. It is an event that is held in various campus chapters around the country and is one of Habitat for Humanity’s largest advertising events. It is usually held in the fall semester at Purdue University.
ACT! SPEAK! BUILD! WEEK
Act! Speak! Build! Week is Habitat’s international, student-initiated week of advocacy. In an attempt to empower students to educate themselves and their communities, activities are held throughout the week on Purdue’s Memorial Mall. This year the events are on April 15-April 17, 2014. A more detailed list of events will be posted soon!
