Fundraising

An integral part of Habitat for Humanity is fundraising – after all, nails aren’t free!

To sponsor a house build through Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, the Purdue Habitat chapter must raise $55,000 every year. We have several events each year to help us accomplish this goal:

  • Bucket 100 Bicycle Tour: This 2-day bike ride from Purdue to IU is entirely student run. This year the event raise almost $14,000! The date of the Bucket 100 for next year is October 25th and 26th, 2014.
  • Cover Indiana Bicycle Tour: This 7 day bike ride, organized by Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, starts from Lafayette the Sunday after finals week and tours the Southern part of Indiana. This year, the Cover Indiana is May 11th – May 17th, 2014.
  • Trick or Treat for Change: On Halloween night, students dress up like construction workers and go “Trick-or-Treating” for donations of small change rather than candy.
  • Care Package Program: PUHFH partners with On Campus Marketing to distribute care packages to students. Parents pre-order and pay for the care packages for their students, and PUHFH assisted in distribution of packages to students.

In addition to our annual events and programs, PUHFH also relies on individual donors from the Purdue and Lafayette community who donate to our cause. We are continually working to develop this base of donors to help supplement our fundraising efforts.

If you would like to donate to the Purdue Student Chapter, contact Allison Tyson, VP of Fundraising, at tysona@purdue.edu. All donations go directly to the $55,000 building sponsorship fee through Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.
