Habitat for Humanity is known for its construction of new homes for families in need. Purdue Habitat provides volunteering opportunities with the local affiliate, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, along with two additional affiliates in Crawfordsville, IN and Lebanon, IN to its members almost every Saturday of the school year. This volunteering can involve anything from construction of the framework, to putting up drywall, to blowing insulation in the attic of homes as well as tasks around the Habitat affiliate itself such as organizing their construction supplies, cleaning their offices, among other activities.
No experience is necessary to volunteer with us! Everything you need to know, you will be taught on-site from the affiliate staff members. Purdue Habitat provides transportation to these volunteer opportunities as well as lunch in the middle of the day. All volunteers are asked to meet in the Shreve Hall lobby at 8am on Saturdays and will be dropped back off at Shreve at or before 4pm. Upon arrival at Shreve Hall you will need to sign a waiver, provided by Purdue Habitat officers, to participate in the build. Furthermore, we request that you wear old clothing which you won’t mind getting dirty.
