Habitat for Humanity is known for its construction of new homes for families in need. Purdue Habitat provides volunteering opportunities with the local affiliate, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, along with two additional affiliates in Crawfordsville, IN and Lebanon, IN to its members almost every Saturday of the school year. This volunteering can involve anything from construction of the framework, to putting up drywall, to blowing insulation in the attic of homes as well as tasks around the Habitat affiliate itself such as organizing their construction supplies, cleaning their offices, among other activities.
No experience is necessary to volunteer with us! Everything you need to know, you will be taught on-site from the affiliate staff members. Purdue Habitat provides transportation to these volunteer opportunities as well as lunch in the middle of the day. All volunteers are asked to meet in the Shreve Hall lobby at 8am on Saturdays and will be dropped back off at Shreve at or before 4pm. Upon arrival at Shreve Hall you will need to sign a waiver, provided by Purdue Habitat officers, to participate in the build. Furthermore, we request that you wear old clothing which you won’t mind getting dirty.

In order to move construction along on our chapter’s house, we will be starting Friday Builds! The builds will be in 2 1/2 hour shifts, the first starting at 8am and the last one ending at 4:20pm. Rides will be provided to and from the worksite.
Please email Samaah Al-Najjar (email@example.com) if you are able to drive for any of the shifts.

Unfortunately we are no longer accepting group builds for fall 2016. However, we have a new policy starting this spring:
- Groups must have all the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of members going on the build.
- Groups must provide their own driver(s). Drivers must be registered through Purdue University by filling out this form.*
- We will have a separate online form for the group leader to fill out before the build. The group leader will need to input all the other member’s information. This form will become available on our website (on this page) Saturday the week before the build you plan to attend. Tuesday at 7pm this form will close and we will not accept anymore group volunteering requests for that week.
*To become a member fill out our membership form and pay membership dues ($10 for the semester or $20 for the year). Then bring it to our office hours (listed on the homepage of this website) or bring it on the Saturday of your volunteering day.
